Friday, Feb 21, 2025 Pre-Con:

We will visit several art venues in Omaha to explore photography as an art form.

  • The group will begin at the world-class Joslyn Art Museum where we will explore the works of classical masters, like Rembrandt, Degas, El Greco, and how they relate to photographic art. We’re hoping that the Joslyn curator will be able to share some of the rare photographs in their permanent collection, including the work of Nebraska photographer, Wright Morris. 

  • Next, we will head to the Durham Museum, another Art Deco gem, and meet with the Kristen Rowley, the collections manager responsible for the museum’s extensive photography archives. Kristin will also display the collection of Donald Jack photographs. Donald Jack was one of the founding members of PPofN. 

  • Next, we will head to the Ford Conservation Center (operated by History Nebraska) where we will have a brief presentation by their top photo restoration expert.

  • The tour will end with visits to Kaneko and Bemis art museums (and possibly Gallery 1516) to further explore photography as an art form.
